2003 NFL Draft Preview2003 NFL Draft by the Thomas Jensen of 1800-SportsIt's that time of year again, so NFL fans are getting anxious about what their team is going to do in the upcoming 2003 NFL Draft. Will they draft a player based on their needs or take the best athlete available to them and go for a trade? Will they trade down or will they trade up? Will they deal picks for proven veterans? There are too many scenarios and outcomes to guess. The 2003 NFL Draft is going to be exciting as usual. If they even make the roster, don't expect many 2003 draft picks to start all 16 games. Only seven of the 260 selections got credit for 16 starts, a measly two percent. Three first round draft picks: Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys, Ed Reed of Baltimore Ravens and David Carr of Houston Texans, three second rounder picks: Tank Williams of the Tennessee Titans, Tony Weaver of the Baltimore Ravens and Chester Pitts of the Houston Texan and one fourth-rounder Randy McMichael of the Miami Dolphins were the seven players that started the entire season. As we get closer to the NFL 2003 Draft, below are a few interesting statistics to keep in mind: 1.) 6% of the 2002 NFL Draft picks were either injured or quit. 2.) 11% of the 2002 NFL Draft picks were cut by the team that drafted them. 3.) 40% of the 2002 NFL Draft picks did not even start a single game.
