Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon won the Lev Yashin Award for being the best goalkeeper in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Going into the final against France in Berlin, Buffon was only scored on 1 time the entire tournament. Cristian Zaccardo from the USA was a bright spot in the tournament, scoring against the Italian. Zinedine Zidane was the only other player Buffon let score in a penaly kick at the beginning of the game.
