Betting Odds to Win the 2008 U.S. Open - August 25th - September 7th
The 2008 US Open tennis betting odds have been posted by the World's largest online sportsbook and casino, Sportsbook.com. The 2008 US Open is days away; Monday, August 25th through Sunday, September 7th. The first US Open took place in 1881. The tournament is held every year during August and September for a period of two weeks. The tournament is held at the USTA National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in the New York City borough of Queens. It is the fourth and final Grand Slam event. The Australian Open and the French Open are the first two and the third is the Wimbledon. There are five championship events: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Woman's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Roger Federer made history by defeating Novak Djokovic 7-6(4), 7-6(2), 6-4 to win the Men's 2007 US Open. This just might be a record that might not be broken this century: going back-to-back-to-back-to-back at Wimbledon and the US Open four consecutive times. Justine Henin defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-1, 6-3 to win the Women's Title.
In 2006, the US Open became the first Grand Slam tournament to implement instant replay reviews of calls, using Hawk-Eye. Each player was allowed two challenges per set plus one additional challenge during a tiebreak but was not penalized with the loss of a challenge if it was upheld. The USTA announced that starting in 2008, each player will be given three challenges per set with an extra challenge if the set goes to a tiebreak. During the 2007 US Open, 95 out of 320 challenges were upheld - or 30.6%.
