2008 WSOP Final Table OddsThe 2008 WSOP Final Table is right around the corner and bettors who are looking to spice up the action with a few WSOP prop bets are looking to the Bodog sportsbook. We thought we'd take a look at the WSOP props that Bodog oddsmakers have put up and give you our impression of where the smart money is.Let's start at the top (chip count-wise) with Dennis Phillips. This St. Louis native is the chip leader and one of the favorites to capture the $9.1 million top prize on November 9 with odds of 4-1. Phillips was originally set as the exclusive favorite at 3-1 but the odds have recently been adjusted and he's now tied for the top spot with Scott Montgomery and Ivan Demidov. The November Nine's Hometowns and Chip Counts: Dennis Phillips - Cottage Hills, Ill. - $26,295,000 Ivan Demidov - Moscow, Russia - $20,400,000 Scott Montgomery - Perth, Ontario, Canada - $19,690,000 Peter Eastgate - Denmark - $18,375,000 Ylon Schwartz - Brooklyn, N.Y. - $12,525,000 Darus Suharto - Toronto, Ontario, Canada - $12,520,000 David Rheem - Los Angeles, Calif. - $10,230,000 Craig Marquis - Arlington, Texas - $10,210,000 Kelly Kim - Whittier, Calif. - $2,620,000 It's likely that the fact that Phillips is the least experienced poker player at the Final Table that led to the line shift but keep in mind that this is the same man who managed to gobble up nearly 20% of all the chips in play from one of the biggest and most talented poker fields ever assembled. And remember oddsmakers did once have him at 3-1 due to his chip lead. Was it seeing how he played on the ESPN footage that gave oddsmakers pause with his favored status? Either way, he has nearly a six million chip lead over second place Demidov and has proved he's a capable player. At 4-1 Dennis Phillips is a very good pick. Although none of the November Nine WSOP finalists are very well known and have no WSOP bracelets between them, a few players stick out as having the experience necessary to take the table down. Chino Rheem is generally regarded as the man with the most live tournament poker final table experience. Rheem made two WSOP final tables: the $5,000 Mixed Holdem event where he finished fifth, cashing for $93,624, and of course, the $10,000 Main Event. He has also won three Bellagio Cup events and finished third in the 2005 EPT Grand Final. His total live poker tournament winnings currently sits at just over $700,000, not to mention the $900,670 that all members of the final table have received for the minimum payout possible. Win your seat into the World Series of Poker or World Poker Tour through a World Series of Poker freeroll tournament right now! Rheem's odds have also recently been adjusted from their original 15-2 to 9-2. Oddsmakers have apparently rethought Rheem's chances and aren't too worried that he's essentially tied for the second smallest stack at 10,230,000. Rheem is still a solid pick despite the change in odds. You can expect that a lot of savvy bettors will have their money on him. 2008 WSOP Final Table Payouts: 1st Place: $9,119,517 2nd Place: $5,790,024 3rd Place: $4,503,352 4th Place: $3,763,515 5th Place: $3,088,012 6th Place: $2,412,510 7th Place: $1,769,174 8th Place: $1,286,672 9th Place: $900,670 The player with the most cashes in WSOP events is Ylon Schwartz, with 11 for total earnings of almost $125,000. Schwartz has made a living as a professional gambler for most of his life and is no stranger to high pressure. The Bodog Sportsbook currently has him as the second biggest long-shot after short stack Kelly Kim. Scwartz's odds of 15-2 are an exceptional value. With 12.5 million in chips and such impressive records in poker, chess, backgammon and gambling in general, he has to be considered to have as good a shot as any player at the WSOP Final Table to win it all. Our final recommendation is for Peter Eastgate. Eastgate represents the young Internet generation of poker pros. Tough and aggressive, Eastgate has already been singled out by two other WSOP Final Tablists (Kelly Kim and Ivan Demidov) as the player they are expecting to be the most challenging. "He was the toughest to play against and he is a very strong online player, which I respect a lot." Demidov said of Eastgate in a statement. Eastage pays out 5-1 to win it all and goes in with the fourth most chips at $18,375,000. The big day is just around the corner so don't for get to place your WSOP Final Table bets. You've got this writer's recommendations. But as you know, it's poker, and anything can happen. --- by Bodog Poker at 1800-sports.com on November 20, 2008
