2010 NFL Week 16 Predictions - Bet Saints vs Falcons - Monday, December 27th, 8:30pm EST ESPN

The 2010 NFL week 16 predictions on the Pro football betting season are out on the New Orleans Saints vs the Atlanta Falcons Monday Night Football match-up. This Monday the New Orleans Saints head to the Georgia Dome as a 2 1/2 point underdog to battle their NFC South rival Atlanta Falcons.

The New Orleans Saints offense vs the Atlanta Falcons defense favor the Saints. The Saints are 6th in yards and 7th in points, while the Falcons are 15th in yards allowed and 7th in points allowed. The Saints will be throwing the ball all over the place against this 20th ranked passing defense. The Saints are very good in protecting the quarterback, and the Falcons don't get pressure that often. The one thing that the Falcons have going for them is that they are 3rd in interceptions, in which the Saints give up the 3rd most interceptions. I believe that the reason for that is because they throw the ball almost the entire game. I don't think the Saints should worry because they have one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Drew Brees. The 2010 NFL week 16 predictions advantage goes to the Saints.

The Atlanta Falcons offense vs the New Orleans Saints defense is a good matchup. The Falcons are 12th in yards and 5th in points, while the Saints are 9th in yards and points allowed. The Saints are not that good against the run, 19th in rushing defense, which goes well for the Falcons who are 7th in rushing and have a great running back in Michael Turner. Expect him to have a good game. This open the passing game in which the Falcons are one of the best in protecting the quarterback and they do not turn the ball over. 2010 NFL predictions advantage goes to the Falcons.

The special teams favor the Falcons. The Saints are 15th in kickoff return average and 22nd in punt return average, while the Falcons are 1st in kickoff return average and 11th in punt return average. the Saints are 21st in kickoff return average allowed and 28th in punt return average allowed, while the Falcons are 11th in kickoff return average allowed but 24th in punt return average allowed. Clearly the advantage goes to the Falcons, but I will say that the Saints dynamic returner isn't in the return game because of his injury. Now he is back in, but he still isn't in the return game. If he goes back to the return game, expect him to be a factor. But the 2010 NFL week 16 predictions advantage goes to the Falcons.

Both teams have two great coaching minds. Saints head coach Sean Payton has his team clicking at the right time. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has done a great job with this defense. Also, it does help when you have a coach on the field as well, and that's what Drew Brees is. The head coach of the Falcons Mike Smith lets his quarterback Matt Ryan change plays on the fly and do what he wants on offense. The Falcons offense looks like the Indianapolis Colts' offense as far as doing no huddles, and Matt Ryan looking like Colts quarterback Peyton Manning when it comes to changing plays at the line of scrimmage (don't worry, I'm not actually comparing the 2, but just saying what the offense looks like). This is a great coaching matchup and there's no clear favorite. It will go down to which coaching staff can change their defensive schemes to confuse the other teams' offense. I will say that the Saints can do that well, so I will give the slight advantage to the Saints.

My 2010 NFL week 16 predictions on the New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons Monday Night Football game are out. The Saints are going to throw the ball a lot this game, just be prepared for an interception or 2 though. The Falcons are going to run the ball a lot and do well at it. This will keep the Saints offense off the field. The Falcons might have some trouble in the passing game, but as long as they run the ball well, it will open up the passing game. The Saints are starting to look like the championship team from last year. They did lose last week but that was because they couldn't stop the running game. I don't think they can this week, but I don't think it will matter because the Saints will be able to match point for point with the Falcons. And then they will wait for the Falcons to make a big mistake on offense in which the Saints defense is made for capitalizing on those mistakes. I say that the Saints win this one in a very good game, in which it will go down to the last possession of the game. 38-37.
