2010 NFL Week 17 Picks - Bet Cowboys vs Eagles - Sunday, January 2nd, 4:15pm EST FOX

The 2010 NFL week 17 picks on the Pro football betting season are out on the Dallas Cowboys vs the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday late afternoon football match-up. This Sunday the Dallas Cowboys head to Lincoln Financial Field as a 7 1/2 point underdog to battle their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles.

The Dallas Cowboys offense vs the Philadelphia Eagles defense favor the Cowboys. The Cowboys are 7th in yards and 6th in points, while the Eagles are 12th in yards allowed but 22nd in points allowed. The Cowboys have been running the ball well as of late, and they will continue to do so in this game. That will set up the passing game in which they are 4th in passing offense. They should be careful though because the Eagles are one of the best in getting interceptions, but as long as the Cowboys priority is running the ball, the 2010 NFL week 17 picks advantage will go to the Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles offense vs the Dallas Cowboys defense favor the Eagles. The Eagles are number 1 in yards and number 2 in points, while the Cowboys are 23rd in yards allowed and 31st in points allowed. The Eagles will do what they want in the passing game against this 27th ranked passing defense. That will set up the running game in which the Eagles are 3rd in rushing. 2010 NFL picks advantage goes to the Eagles.

The special teams are a good matchup. The Cowboys are 24th in kickoff return average but 2nd in punt return average, while the Eagles are 25th in kickoff return average but 10th in punt return average. The Cowboys are 27th in kickoff return average allowed but 2nd in punt return average allowed, while the Eagles are 13th in kickoff return average allowed and 21st in punt return average allowed. Looking at the matchups, there's 1 matchup that is a major disadvantage, and that's the Cowboys 2nd ranked punt return team against the Eagles 21st ranked punt return defense. Because of that, 2010 NFL week 17 picks advantage goes to the Cowboys.

Both teams have two good coaching minds. The Cowboys have a new head coach in Jason Garrett has this team playing much better ever since he became coach. He has them playing more of a balance attack instead of throwing the ball all over the place. I don't know what it is, but this team is now a totally different and better team than before. The Eagles head coach, Andy Reid has the schemes to put in for both offense and defense. The Eagles defensive coordinator, Sean McDermott, is one of the best defensive minds and will make good defensive calls to get to the quarterback. I will give the advantage to the Eagles because they have the better schemes to confuse the other teams.

My 2010 NFL week 17 picks on the Dallas Cowboys vs the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday late afternoon football is out. We don't know if Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is going to play because of an injury, but since they really don't have anything to play for because they have clinched the 3rd seed and can't move up, I am going to assume that he doesn't play. We have seen the Eagles backup Kevin Kolb play well. He is more of a pocket passer. This goes well for the Eagles because the Cowboys are not good against the pass. I expect him to have a good game. The Cowboys shouldn't have a problem on offense, considering the fact that the Eagles might sit out some starters. If the Cowboys throw the ball too much, they will get in trouble because the Eagles are great in getting interceptions. The Cowboys do run the ball more, and they shouldn't have a problem on offense. This will be a high scoring game, and the Cowboys keep this close, but the Eagles will still win this game because the Cowboys defense isn't good enough to stop this offense. The Eagles win 27-24.
