2010 NFL Week 17 Predictions - Bet Jaguars vs Texans - Sunday, January 2nd, 4:15pm EST CBS

The 2010 nfl week 17 predictions on the NFL football betting season are out on the Jacksonville Jaguars vs the Houston Texans Sunday late afternoon football match-up. This Sunday the Jacksonville Jaguars head to Reliant Stadium as a 2 1/2 point favorite to battle their AFC South rival Houston Texans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars offense vs the Houston Texans defense favor the Jaguars. The Jaguars are 14th in yards and 15th in points, but the Texans are 29th in yards allowed and 30th in points allowed. The Texans are the worst team in passing defense. Expect the Jaguars to have a good day in the passing game. This will open up the running game in which the Jaguars are 4th in rushing. The 2010 nfl week 17 predictions advantage goes to the Jaguars.

The Houston Texans offense vs the Jacksonville Jaguars defense favor the Texans. The Texans are 5th in yards and 11th in points, while the Jaguars are 25th in yards allowed and 26th in points allowed. The Texans should be able to do what they want on offense. They have the 6th ranked passing offense going up against the 26th ranked passing defense. They also have the leading rusher in the NFL going up against the 17th ranked rushing defense. Expect a big day for this offense. 2010 nfl predictions advantage goes to the Texans.

The special teams favor the Jaguars. The Jaguars are 10th in kickoff return average and 14th in punt return average, while the Texans are 28th in kickoff return average and 28th in punt return average. The Jaguars are 10th in kickoff return average allowed and 3rd in punt return average allowed, while the Texans are 24th in kickoff return average allowed and 12th in punt return average allowed. Besides for 1 matchup which is even, clearly the 2010 nfl week 17 predictions advantage goes to the Jaguars.

Both teams have two good coaching minds. The Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio was the linebackers coach for the Baltimore Ravens, and he was one of the main reasons for the Ravens success. He brings his knowledge of that defense to this team. The issue with the Jaguars is that there defense isn't playing that well. The Texans head coach Gary Kubiak is a good offensive coach, but it's the defense that's the problem. I do believe that they have talented players that can be good but the defensive schemes just don't work. They don't change anything up during the game. You know pretty much what the Texans are going to do. It's a close matchup, but I will say that the advantage goes to the Jaguars because they have the capability to change up the defense to get after the quarterback, whereas the Texans don't.

My 2010 nfl week 17 predictions on the Jacksonville Jaguars vs the Houston Texans Sunday afternoon football game is out. This game is going to be a high scoring game. The Texans will do what they want on offense. They should be able to score at will. The Jaguars will not be with their starting quarterback David Garrard in this game, so they will have to rely on backup Trent Edwards. To be honest, I don't think it will make a big difference on the quarterback because the game plan is the same, which is run the ball a lot and set up play action. Trent Edwards has been a starting quarterback before and he does have the capability to run this offense. It does help that he is going up against the worst passing defense in the league. Both offenses will be able to score. I believe that the team that wins will be the one that has the better special teams in order for their offense to have a short field. That team is the Jaguars. I think the Jaguars pull out the win 41-38.
