Week 15 NFL Picks - Bet Cardinals vs Panthers - Sunday, December 19th, 1:00PM ET FOX

The week 15 NFL picks on the 2010 Pro football season are out on the Arizona Cardinals vs the Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon football match-up. This Sunday the Arizona Cardinals head to Bank of America Stadium as a 2 1/2 point underdog to battle the Carolina Panthers.

The Arizona Cardinals offense vs the Carolina Panthers defense favor the Panthers. The Cardinals are 31st in yards and 27th in points, while the Panthers are 15th in yards allowed and 26th in points allowed. The Panthers are surprisingly good against the pass, 10th in passing defense. The Cardinals need to run the ball, which they can't, against this 25th ranked rushing defense. It will be interesting to see if they can run the ball effectively. If the Cardinals try to pass, the Panthers will get turnovers. The week 15 NFL picks advantage goes to the Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers offense vs the Arizona Cardinals defense is a terrible matchup. The Panthers are last in both yards and points, while the Cardinals are 29th in yards allowed and 30th in points allowed. There is one thing that the Panthers can do, they can run the ball. They will be running the ball against this 30th ranked rushing defense. I don't see why the Panthers have to throw the ball. If they do, the Cardinals can get turnovers. As long as the Panthers run the ball at least 30-35 times, the advantage goes to the Panthers. I do believe that they will do that, which will mean that the NFL picks advantage goes to the Panthers.

The special teams are a good matchup. The Cardinals are 5th in kickoff return average but 25th in punt return average, while the Panthers are 17th in kickoff return average and 18th in punt return average. The Cardinals are 29th in kickoff return average allowed and 30th in punt return average allowed, while the Panthers are 18th in kickoff return average allowed and 16th in punt return average allowed. The special teams will be a big part in this game. The one matchup that makes the advantage go to the Cardinals is the 5th ranked kickoff return team of the Cardinals against the 18th ranked kickoff defense of the Panthers. I can see a kickoff return going for a touchdown for the Cardinals, and that might be the deciding factor in this game. Week 15 NFL picks advantage goes to the Cardinals.

Both teams have two good coaching minds. The Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt was the offensive coordinator for Bill Cowher who was the head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has brought in the mean and physical atmosphere to this Cardinals team. The only issue is that the Cardinals are not physical enough and are not playing like what Ken Whisenhunt wants them to be playing like. The Panthers head coach Jon Fox and defensive coordinator Ron Meeks has the smarts to change schemes on the fly. That works well for the defense, but the offense can't do anything regardless of what they call. Advantage goes to the Cardinals.

My week 15 NFL picks on the Arizona Cardinals vs Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon football game is out. This is going to be a very sloppy game. It will go down to which team will make the fewest mistakes. Last week the Cardinals put in a new quarterback who played ok for his 1st start. It will be interesting to see if he can play well against a better passing defense that can get turnovers. The Panthers will do nothing but run the ball and do very well at it. Expect big numbers in the running game for the Panthers. If the Cardinals want to win, they need to run the ball well and they need to do well on special teams. I believe that the Cardinals will do well on special teams, but not in the running game. This game will be close, but it will go down to who will make the most mistakes, and I believe that the Cardinals offense will make a lot of mistakes. Because of that, I am giving the Panthers the slight edge in this one 23-19.
