2011 NFL Playoff Picks AFC Championship Round Jets vs Steelers![]() Ben Roethlisberger Steelers Quarterback 2011 NFL Playoff Picks - Bet Jets vs Steelers - Sunday, January 23rd, 6:30pm EST CBS The 2011 NFL Playoff picks AFC Championship round on the 2010 Pro Football betting season are out on the New York Jets vs the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night football match-up. This Sunday the New York Jets head to Heinz Field as a 3 point underdog to battle the Pittsburgh Steelers. The New York Jets offense vs the Pittsburgh Steelers defense favor the Steelers. The Jets are 11th in yards and 13th in points, while the Steelers are 2nd in yards allowed and 1st in points allowed. The matchup to watch is the Jets 4th ranked rushing offense against the number 1 rushing defense. Knowing the Jets, they will not shy away from running the ball, but what they should do is set up the running game by doing play action pass, which they are very good in play action, against the 12th ranked passing defense. If the Jets pass the ball too much though, this Steelers defense will be making plays and will create turnovers; they are one of the best in creating turnovers. The 2011 NFL Playoff picks advantage goes to the Steelers. Check out BOVADA and start winning NOW! The Pittsburgh Steelers offense vs the New York Jets defense also favor the Jets. The Steelers are 14th in yards and 12th in points, while the Jets are 3rd in yards allowed and 6th in points allowed. The Steelers do have a pretty good running game with Rashard Mendenhall, but they are going up against the 3rd rank rushing defense. The Steelers have a pretty good receiving core, but the Jets have 2 shut down corners that should be able to shut out these receivers. The Jets that can get pressure on the quarterback which isn't good for this Steelers team who gives up a lot of sacks. The 2011 NFL picks advantage goes to the Steelers. The special teams are very interesting. The Jets are 3rd in kickoff return average but 20th in punt return average, while the Steelers are 8th in kickoff return average and 21st in punt return average. The Jets are 3rd in kickoff return average allowed but 26th in punt return average, while the Steelers are 9th in kickoff return average allowed and 8th in punt return average allowed. Each matchup is pretty much even. The Jets have a more dangerous return man then the Steelers, which is why I'm giving the 2011 NFL Playoff picks advantage to the Jets. The head coach of the Jets, Rex Ryan, was the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens who was one of the greatest defenses when he was there. He brought in his system to the Jets and they are executing his defense perfectly. The offensive coordinator of the Jets, Brian Schottenheimer, comes from his father Marty Schottenheimer who coached the San Diego Chargers to being one of the best offenses in his time there. Brian helps this offense and has a great running offense that sets up the passing game. The Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau has one of the greatest defensive minds in the league. The Steelers defensive players are good, but then take these 2 great minds and this defense is great. On offense, usually Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger takes control of it. This is a great coaching matchup, and there really isn't any advantage in this one. I will give the slight advantage to the Steelers because of the experience of the quarterbacks. The Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been to the playoffs so many times and won 2 super bowls, while the Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has gone to the playoffs just twice. Advantage slightly goes to the Steelers. My 2011 NFL Playoff picks AFC Championship round on the New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday Night Football game is out. I love these kinds of games; great defenses and hard hitting. This game will really go down to which defense will make more plays. The Jets will not go away from their running game, so it will be interesting to see if this running game can be effective against this number 1 defense. It will be also interesting to see if the Steelers are going to cheat up and bring their safeties in the box to force the Jets to throw the ball more, or if they are going to play back and let the Jets run the ball. It will also be interesting to see how quarterback Mark Sanchez can take the pressure from a great blitzing team. On the other side, the Steelers receivers might have a hard time getting the ball because the Jets have 2 very well shut down corners. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will have to find other players to throw the ball to. So it might go down to the tight end, the running back, and the 3rd or 4th receiver on the team to make the plays for the Steelers. Because it is Ben Roethlisberger, he shouldn't have an issue finding other players. He will be scrambling a lot this game because the Jets will be getting to him very quickly, so when he scrambles, he is at his best. Last time these 2 teams met was in week 15. What was interesting about this game was that the Jets ran for 106 yards on 27 carries and that the Jets were able to protect the quarterback fairly well. The Steelers however ran for 146 yards on 25 carries. The Jets won this game because of the Jets special teams in which they scored a touchdown on special teams. I personally believe that the Steelers could've won that game if it wasn't for the special teams. This game should be different. The Steelers will figure out a way to make sure the special teams don't hurt them this game. This will be a great game, but I believe that the Steelers will win this in a classic defensive game 17-13. --- by Eric Price at 1800-sports.com on January 18, 2011
