2011 NFL Playoff Predictions - Bet Ravens vs Steelers - Saturday, January 15th, 4:30pm EST NBC

The 2011 NFL Playoff predictions divisional round on the 2010-2011 Pro football betting season are out on the Baltimore Ravens vs the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday late afternoon football match-up. This Saturday the Baltimore Ravens head to Heinz Field as a 3 point underdog to battle their AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Baltimore Ravens offense vs the Pittsburgh Steelers defense favors the Steelers. The Ravens are 22nd in yards and 16th in points, but the Steelers are 2nd in yards allowed and 1st in points allowed. The weak spot in the Steelers defense is their passing defense, 12th in passing defense. That's ok because they get they are one of the best in both sacks and creating turnovers. The Ravens give up some sacks, and when that happens, the can get into trouble against this great defense. The 2011 NFL Playoff predictions divisional round advantage goes to the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense vs the Baltimore Ravens defense is a great matchup. The Steelers are 14th in yards and 12th in points, while the Ravens are 10th in yards allowed and 3rd in points allowed. The Ravens are great in stopping the run. They are 5th in rushing defense, and they pretty much contained the Chiefs running game last week. The Ravens have to get to the quarterback even though they are 26th in getting sacks. They should be able to because the Steelers cannot protect the quarterback, and when that happens, the Ravens will be able to do what they do best which is creating turnovers. This is a great matchup, but I will give the slight 2011 NFL predictions advantage to the Ravens.

The special teams favor the Steelers. The Ravens are 15th in kickoff return average and 29th in punt return average, while the Steelers are 8th in kickoff return average and 21st in punt return average. The Ravens are last in kickoff return average allowed and 14th in punt return average allowed, while the Steelers are 9th in kickoff return average allowed and 8th in punt return average allowed. There's one matchup that the Ravens have the advantage on, and that's there punting defense, but the Steelers have the advantage in every other matchup. 2011 NFL Playoff predictions advantage goes to the Steelers.

Both teams have two good coaching minds. The Ravens head coach John Harbaugh came from Andy Reid who is the head coach of the Philadelphia Steelers. He brought everything he learned to this team and is now playing very well. The Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron was the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers which was one of the best offensive teams when he was there. The Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau has one of the greatest defensive minds in the league. The Steelers defensive players are good, but then take these 2 great minds and this defense is great. On offense, usually Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger takes control of it. This is an awesome coaching matchup. Honestly, I can't decide who has the advantage. I guess I will give the slightest advantage to the Steelers only because of the experience of Ben Roethlisberger.

My 2011 NFL Playoff predictions divisional round on the Baltimore Ravens vs the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday late afternoon football game is out. I love these kinds of matchups, 2 rivals with great defenses. The Steelers might have a hard time running the ball against this Ravens team who is 5th in rushing defense, and that contained the number 1 rushing offense in the Kansas City Chiefs. The Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will have to make plays with his legs to buy himself time to throw the ball down field. The Ravens have been running the ball more and been effective lately. It will be interesting to see if they can run the ball against the number 1 rushing defense. They are also going up against a defense that is great at getting to the quarterback, and is great at creating turnovers. So what is the best way to go up against this Steelers defense? Very simple, the Ravens need to do a lot of screen plays. And they have one of the best players to do that with, their running back, Ray Rice. If the Ravens execute on the screen plays, then the Ravens will win this game. This game will come down to which defense can make more plays. when it comes times to the playoffs, the Ravens step it up to a higher level, and when they do that, they are possibly the best team in the playoffs. This is going to be a great matchup, but I believe that the Ravens will pull this game off because this defense will make more plays and will determine the outcome of the game. The Ravens win this game 21-17.
