They won their preseason opener 14 - 13 to the Buffalo Bills. Keyshawn Johnson shined with his new team. He caught two passes from Jake Delhomme in the opening drive. Panther's linebacker Adam Seward proved to be a worthy player by blocking Brian Moorman's punt. Reserve tackle Tony Brown also had two sacks for Carolina. Their week 2 game was 17 - 10 over the Jaguars. Quarterback Jake Delhomme went 10/18 for 129 yards. Running back Alex Haynes had 4 carries for 30 yards and Jamal Robertson had 2 carries for 29 yards. Wide receiver Keary Colbert had 2 receptions for 45 yards and Keyshawn Johnson had 3 receptions for 38 yards. In their week 3 win over the Dolphins, Rookie DeAngelo Williams returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. Williams had nine carries for 41 yards. Their first-team offense struggled however. Jake Delhomme was just 6-for-15 for 58 yards. Panthers' outside linebacker Nai'l Diggs injured his right knee and is scheduled for an MRI. The Panthers beat the Steelers 15 - 13 in week 4. Almost no starters were in this not-so-good junior varisty game. John Kasey kicked his fifth field goal on the final play of the game for the win. Backup quarterback Brett Basanez drove the ball well but couldn't get it in the endzone. He finished 15/26 for 148 yards.
