MAC West Conference - Ball State Cardinals 2006 Preview
Injuries and suspensions led to Brady Hoke's Ball State Cardinals starting out 0-3 last season, but they rebounded and went 4-4 in MAC play, finishing the season on a roll. This year's team boasts a whopping returning 18 starters -- tied for most in the conference. The program under HC Hoke is now in its fourth year and should start to pay dividends.

The Offense is nearly intact with 10 returning, giving Hoke his dream offense. Expect it to shine this season and pass the 21 PPG it totaled last year. The Defense is also loaded with veterans and should easily reduce the enormous 38 PPG it gave up in '05. The front seven has athleticism, experience, and depth and should top last year's numbers. The Cardinals face one of the more daunting schedules in the MAC, but they definitely have seasoned players and could challenge for bowl eligibility.
