Beat Online Blackjack

How to Beat Online Blackjack by Bones

Blackjack is a game that, when played correctly, can give a player a better chance of winning by combining skill with luck. Unlike slot machines or roulette, or other games of pure chance, it is possible to beat online blackjack by following some simple rules.

In casino play, there are up to five players per table, but even then you are still playing against only the dealer. Also in casino play, the dealer sometimes plays one deck, depending on the house. This makes it possible to count cards in order to raise your odds of winning. In online blackjack, the dealer uses a random number generator, essentially employing a new deck with every hand, so based on the deck alone; your odds do not change with each hand.

It is possible to better your odds of winning and beat online blackjack by following most of the same rules you would in casino blackjack. Basically this is achieved by knowing when to hit or stand and when to double down and split. These are commonly referred to as "basic strategy" and usually run as follows:

If your total is 13 through 16, stand if the dealer shows 2 through 6, otherwise hit.
If your total is 17 through 20, always stand.
13 thru 16 double down if dealer shows four through six, otherwise hit.
Ace and 6 double down if dealer shows 2 through 6, otherwise hit.

Ace and 8 double down if dealer shows 6, otherwise stand.
Ace and 9 always stand.
Always split aces.
2 and 2, split if dealer shows 3 through 7, otherwise hit.
3 and 3, split if dealer shows 4 through 7, otherwise hit.
4 and 4, double down if dealer shows 5 or 6, otherwise hit.
5 and 5, double down if dealer shows 2 through 9, otherwise hit.
6 and 6, split if dealer shows 2 through 6, otherwise hit.
7 and 7, split if dealer shows 2 through 7, otherwise hit.
8 and 8 always split.
9 and 9 stand if dealer shows Ace, 7 or 10, otherwise split.

Strictly following these rules will increase your chances to beat online blackjack.
