Betting on Soccer

World Cup Betting and Soccer Betting by Marcus Franz

With the age of the Internet, betting on soccer is quickly becoming a favorite online pastime all over the world. Whether your team makes the World Cup betting odds, or you just enjoy playing the odds, many online sites offer several options for betting on soccer. You may make bets on daily odds or future odds. All teams, from every country are available to bet on. The first step before betting on soccer is to do a little research.

The most common odds used in betting on soccer involve 3 possibilities. You may bet on team A, B or a draw. If you bet on team A and team B wins after 90 minutes of play, you lose. However if you bet on team A and after 90 minutes of play team A wins, you win and you get paid. Betting on a draw is also common when betting on soccer. If you bet on a draw and after 90 minutes of play the game is a draw, or a tie, you win and get paid.

Another method of betting on soccer involves placing a bet on the total points scored. This type of bet only counts on points scored during the 90 minutes of play. If the game goes into overtime before the score you bet is reached, you lose. Your bet does not include penalty shots or periods of extra time.

If you are going to be betting on soccer, it is important that you understand the rules of the game. Soccer is played by 2 teams of 11 players each. The game is played for two 45-minute halves, with extra or "stoppage" time added for delays or stoppages. A "throw-in" is awarded if the ball crosses the longitudinal boundary if the playing field and a "corner-kick" is awarded if an opposing player forces the ball over the latitudinal boundary. Free kicks are awarded if a player, other than the goalkeeper, touches the ball with their arm or hand or deliberately interferes with another player. A penalty area is marked in front of each goal. If a player is awarded a "penalty kick" it is taken from this area, with only the opposing goalkeeper to stop it. The goalkeeper is not allowed to move off the goal line until the ball is kicked.

Learning to win when betting on soccer is as much about odds and math, as it is in knowing your team. Patience is the key to success. Bet on it.
