Betting on the NCAA

Betting on the NCAA is fun and exciting, but it is also a financial venture. There may be those out there who disagree and feel that such a statement makes far too big a deal out of a friendly wager of, say, ten dollars. Well, if anyone thinks that ten dollars is not that big of a deal, light a match to a ten dollar bill and act like it was no big deal. No takers? Didn't think so.

The reason most people indulge in betting on the NCAA is so they can make money. If one is gambling for any reason other than to make money, then one is a fool. There are far cheaper hobbies out there to take part in that do not come with the financial risk that wagering comes with. If one wants to play, one wants to win, and if one wants to win, then one wants to make some money! What about those individuals who like to take part in betting on the NCAA for fun and do not do so because they are looking for money? Is it not their prerogative to bet the way they want to and bet based on whatever motivations they may personally have? Well, people can bet based on whatever reasons they deem fit. If they have the money they can bet (hopefully they have the money) and if they do so for the purpose of pursuing a hobby, then more power to them. Their motivations, however, remain foolish nonetheless as they are taking needless risks and not allowing their money to work for them in other ventures.

Gambling is a way to make money, a sort of short time, high risk variation on wagering in the stock market. It is not a venue for hobbyists or amateurs, because the sport of gambling will eat a hobbyist alive. Betting on the NCAA is serious business, as losses can eventually result in mounting debt. As such, it requires careful examination of all facets on betting on the NCAA and is not really something for those with a mere passing interest.

This does not mean that one should never place the occasional friendly wager. There is nothing wrong with that. However, one must realize that betting on the NCAA on a consistent basis will require a bit more than passing interest in the NCAA, or else one will run the risking of losing over and over again.
