The Samsung/RadioShack 500 is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the 1 -mile long Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth (1:30 p.m. ET, FOX). Last week, the good old boys raced the half-mile track at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia in the Nextel DirecTV 500. Defending Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart won the race, capturing his first checkered flag since August of last year. If was a fairly anti-climatic race compared to the week before when tempers flared during the Food City 500 on the short-track at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. The winner of that race was Kurt Busch, who aggressively bumped Matt Kenseth to capture the win. Kenseth, meanwhile, bumped Jeff Gordon on the final lap dropping him from third to 21st. Following the race, Gordon angrily shoved Kenseth on pit road. His actions cost him a $10,000 fine and probation. Although it was only his first win of the season, Stewart has been the race leader for more laps than any other driver - 397 through five races. Johnson, meanwhile, finished third and regained top spot in the standings with 933 points. Gordon finished second and is No. 7 in the standings. Kenseth, who was the points leader heading into the race, crashed on lap 494 and finished a disappointing 24th. He subsequently dropped to No. 3 in the standings behind Mark Martin. Roush Racing's Greg Biffle has opened as the favorite to win this week's race at +500. Biffle, who drives a Ford, is the defending champion of the Samsung/RadioShack 500. A native of Vancouver, Washington, the 36-year-old Biffle has nine NASCAR victories in his five-year career. Last year, he had six wins and finished second behind Stewart in the Chase for the Nextel Cup. Biffle has two top-10 finishes this year and is currently No. 18 in the standings. Biffle's teammate, Carl Edwards, has the second-best odds to win this week at +650. Edwards won the most recent race at Texas Motor Speedway - the Dickies 500 last November. Edwards, a 26-year-old native of Columbia, Missouri, has two top-5 finishes through five races and is No. 19 in the standings. Following Edwards, Johnson and Kenseth are listed at +700, Stewart checks in at +800 and both Gordon and Kasey Kahne are at +900. --- by BetUSradio at 1800-sports.com on April 07, 2006
