With its pair of signature bowl games just over two months away, Florida Citrus Sports Executive Director Steve Hogan announced today that ticket sales for both the Capital One Bowl and Champs Sports Bowl are at a record pace. As of October 25th, the bowls are up a combined 22,340 tickets sold from a year ago at this time.

At present, the Capital One Bowl has sold 45,419 tickets (compared to 28,990 a year ago) and the Champs Sports Bowl, now in its 17th year, has sold 34,854 (compared to 28,943).

"I think it is a sign of the direction these two games are headed as premier events not only in the bowl system, but in our community as entertainment options," said Hogan. "The Capital One Bowl has always been a New Year's Day tradition and now, with a prime time game featuring a pair of top-flight teams from the ACC and Big Ten, the Champs Sports Bowl is now clearly a top-tier game."

The 61st Annual Capital One Bowl will be played on New Year's Day, 2007, and features a battle between two of the top teams from the Southeastern (SEC) and Big Ten Conferences.
