Soccer Betting: Chelsea vs. Tottenham 2008 Carling Cup Championship

English Soccer Betting: Carling Cup Final
Chelsea vs. Tottenham

By Nila Amerova

The Carling Cup, also known as the English League Cup, is one of the most highly regarded championship cups in European football (or as North Americans like to refer to it fondly, soccer). And to win it would bring a whole host of trappings, some of which, aside from the silverware itself, would be instant world acclaim and fame, headlines in every major media publication around the world, and oh- most importantly-a place in the UEFA Cup tournament for next season. So, if you haven't figured it out yet, it's a big deal-and betting on soccer, well that's even bigger!!! Chelsea vs. Tottenham Carling Cup Final

So who are the contenders this year for this prestigious cup? Two English Premier League teams: Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Defending Carling Cup champions Chelsea are the favorites to win against Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea advanced through the semi-final round with a less than dominating performance over Everton, winning with a goal differential in the first leg that ended 2-1, and a lone goal from Joe Cole that sealed the 1-0 victory in the second leg of the semi-final, for a total of 3-1 on aggregate.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur crushed Arsenal in the semi-final round with a total of 6-2 on aggregate. The second leg proved to seal the fate of Arsenal, as they were swept aside with a score of 5-1.

BetUS is taking action on the 2008 Carling Cup final, which will be held at Wembley stadium on Sunday February 24, 2008.

It is interesting to note, that Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur recently met, with the victory going the way of the Carling Cup favourites 2-0. Perhaps a bit of a preview of what is in store for us this very given Sunday or perhaps Tottenham Hotspur will script a different story on the green lawns of Wembley Stadium.

BetUS Soccer Betting:

If you remember, I mentioned Soccer Betting was huge-do try to keep up-and BetUS Sportsbook is one of the worlds' premier soccer betting destinations. At BetUS Sportsbook, you will find soccer odds on the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Spain's La Liga, and UEFA Champions League amongst many others and the best bit about all the action BetUS covers is that with so many soccer leagues to choose from, you do not necessarily need to be an aficionado on all of them! There are quite a few overlaps that would give any soccer betting enthusiast enough room to flex their wagering muscle.

For example, Arsenal, who recently lost to Chelsea in the Carling Cup semi-final round, took over the leading position in the English Premier League, thanks to a victory over Manchester City in Manchester and aiding their ascent in points was Tottenham Hotspur's 1:1 draw against the current champions in their last match. Meanwhile, Portsmouth defeated the Carling Cup defending champions and 2008 finalists Chelsea, and with a point nicked, they next meet Sunderland in hopes of continuing their winning streak. Bet on the English Premier League with BetUS Sportsbook!

Analysis: Roma drew one of the greatest clubs in Champion League history in the first knockout round of the Champions League. Their defence line, which has been solid this season, owning a clean sheet in the last seven matches at home, will be put to the test by a powerhouse Real. Their last two defeats in Series A matches revealed a weakness in their otherwise solid defence, and could prove to be their undoing.

Real Madrid's away form has faded, and in their last two trips from home, they suffered defeats- and that against mediocre teams in Betis and Almeria. Good news comes to Real with Raul receiving the OK to play after suffering an injury in the match against Betis. With Raul reinstated in the line-up, their odds of living up to their billing are greatly improved.

In the last six meetings between Roma and Real, Real leads 4:2-albeit their record is not necessarily an indication of the outcome of their match tomorrow. Confidence can yield victory, but so can a bruised Roma ego be the catalyst for a much-needed win.
