Carolina Panthers vs Baltimore Ravens NFL Preseason Odds

Carolina Panthers at Baltimore Ravens Odds
Thursday, 8:00 pm Eastern - ESPN

The Baltimore Ravens host the Carolina Panthers in NFL preseason betting action on Thursday night in a game that can be seen on ESPN. The starters for both teams won't play more than a few series so it will be a battle of backups. The Panthers will not have wide receiver Steve Smith who is out with a broken arm and they will also be without Jonathan Stewart who has an Achilles injury.

Baltimore is a 3.5 point favorite with a total of 34 at Bovada.

Carolina will be going with Matt Moore as their starting quarterback this season. He should get at least a couple of series on Thursday. Rookie Jimmy Clausen is expected to be the backup and eventually put pressure on Moore for the starting job. Carolina has a very young team. In fact, they have the youngest roster in the NFL. The team has only five players over the age of 30. With Steve Smith out with an injury, the Panthers will be giving Dwayne Jarrett, Kenneth Moore and Brandon LaFell a lot of work. With Stewart out due to injury, DeAngelo Williams will get brief action and be followed by Tyrell Sutton, Dantrell Savage, Josh Vaughan and Mike Goodson. The Carolina defense does not look as good this NFL betting season as they no longer have Julius Peppers and top linebacker Thomas Davis is out due to injury.

Baltimore comes into the preseason with some questions on defense. They have some serious injuries in the secondary. Safety Ed Reed and cornerbacks Lardarius Webb and Chris Carr are out with injuries. The team is also missing second round pick Sergio Kindle but rookie Terrence Cody should see some playing time. The Ravens always have a tough defense but they definitely have some concerns heading into 2010 because of injuries. Baltimore's offense looks improved this season as they added wide receiver Anquan Boldin. He should give quarterback Joe Flacco a deep threat this betting season.

The Panthers have done well in the regular season against the Ravens going 3-0 but in the preseason they are 1-3 against Baltimore. The Panthers and Ravens meet in the regular season in November so this preseason game will likely not see much offense as neither team will want to show much.
