2009 Capital One Bowl Betting Odds

With its pair of signature bowl games just over two months away, Florida Citrus Sports Executive Director Steve Hogan announced today that ticket sales for both the Capital One Bowl and Champs Sports Bowl are at a record pace. As of October 25th, the bowls are up a combined 22,340 tickets sold from a year ago at this time.

At present, the Capital One Bowl has sold 45,419 tickets (compared to 28,990 a year ago) and the Champs Sports Bowl, now in its 17th year, has sold 34,854 (compared to 28,943).

"I think it is a sign of the direction these two games are headed as premier events not only in the bowl system, but in our community as entertainment options," said Hogan. "The Capital One Bowl has always been a New Year's Day tradition and now, with a prime time game featuring a pair of top-flight teams from the ACC and Big Ten, the Champs Sports Bowl is now clearly a top-tier game."

For those fans interested in purchasing tickets to this year's games, ticket prices will remain at their current rates ($65 for the Capital One Bowl and $50 for the Champs Sports Bowl) for just one more week. Prices for each game will go up $10 ($75 and $60, respectively) on November 1st. End zone and military tickets (limit six with military ID) are also available at a discounted rate.

The 61st Annual Capital One Bowl will be played on New Year's Day, 2007, and features a battle between two of the top teams from the Southeastern (SEC) and Big Ten Conferences. Last year's contest saw Wisconsin upset Auburn, 24-10, in coaching legend Barry Alvarez's final game at the helm of the Badger program.

The Champs Sports Bowl, played on December 29th this year, features an improved matchup from year's past with upper-echelon teams from the Big Ten and the Atlantic Coast Conference. The game, televised nationally on ESPN, will kick off at 8:00 p.m. Last year, Clemson defeated Colorado, 19-10, with the bowl itself showing improved attendance for the fourth-consecutive year.

Both bowl games are played in the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in downtown Orlando, Fla.

Florida Citrus Sports memberships, which guarantee prime seating for the bowl games, still remain available for the 2006-07 bowl season. Membership packages include a wide assortment of benefits including game tickets, business networking opportunities and a variety of social events throughout the year.
