You will notice that, as in a score board, the college basketball gambling line is situated so that the home team is on the bottom while the away team is at the top. To the immediate right of each team is the money line. This is a number, usually like -150 or +170 that is the odds of a team winning expressed as a payout ratio. The money line is located to the immediate right of the team on the college basketball gambling line. Bookmakers calculate the number for each team. The team that bookmakers expect to win is the negative number while the positive number denotes the underdog. Basically, if you bet on a team that is given -150, that means for every $150 you bet, you win $100 plus your bet back if the team you bet on beats the spread. On the other hand, if you bet $100 on a +170 team, you win $170 plus your $100 bet back if your team beats the spread.

The spread is another important piece of information on the college basketball gambling line. The spread is the number of points that the winning team is expected to win by. Say the spread is 10 points. If team A is favored to win by ten points, then they need to win by at least 11 points for you to win any money. If they win by exactly 10 points, you have pushed with the house and no money changes hands. If they win but by less then 10 points, that means team B has beaten the spread and, if you bet on team A, you lose your bet.

Finally, the college basketball gambling line will include information on the total. The total is the total number of points bookmakers expect to be scored in the game. You can bet with the house that the actual total will be over or under this amount. If the total points scored in the game is exactly the amount listed on the college basketball gambling line, then you have pushed with the house and no money changes hands.
