NFL football betting for week 1 of the 2006 pro football season has begun. The Dallas Cowboys take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at ALLTEL Stadium. The game is on Sunday, September 20th at 4:15 PM on channel FOX. The Dallas Cowboys finished third in the NFC East standings last season with a 9-7 record. They went 3-0-1 in the preseason. They beat the Seahawks 13 - 3 in week 1. Dallas coach Bill Parcells wanted to see what back-up quarterback Tony Romo could do. He played the entire game and completed 19 of 25 for 235 yards with one touchdown. He was especially sharp in the first half going 12 of 15 for 154 yards. Terrell Owens was injured and signing autographs back at camp. During week 2 they crushed the Saints 30 - 7. Drew Bledsoe made 2 touchdown passes on his preseason debut. He went 12 of 16 for 156 yards. Backup Tony Romo went 6 of 8 for 138 yards with one touchdown. During week 3 they beat the 49ers 17 - 7. The offence and defense both looked good. Terry Glen made a great touchdown catch and caught a 52 yard pass in double coverage. Bledsoe went 12 of 17 for 200 yards with one touchdown. Thompson had 11 carries for 65 yards and Glenn had 4 receptions for 98 yards with one touchdown. The Vikings managed a 10 - 10 with the Cowboys, courtesy of Mike Vanderjagt in week 4. Vanderjagt who missed two field goals all of last season, went wide right on goals of 32 and 33 yards during overtime. Bledsoe didn't play too much; he was 9 of 11 for 69 yards with one interception. Back-up QB Romo was 30 of 45 for 349 yards with one touchdown. He also had 2 interceptions in the end zone. Thompson had 10 carries for 56 yards and Hurd had 6 receptions for 110 yards.

The Jaguars finished second in the AFC South with a great record of 12-4. They went 3-1 in the preseason. They beat the Dolphins 31 - 26 during Week 1. All three of the Jaguars' quarterbacks connected deep for a total of 321 passing yards. Jaguar's rookie third-string defensive back Jamaal Fudge had a sack and 11 tackles, eight of them unassisted. In week 3 they beat the Buccs 29 - 14. Quarterback Byron Leftwich had a rough first half being sacked 4 times. He came through in the second half completing 13 of 20 for 167 yards with one touchdown. Wide receiver Matt Jones had 4 receptions for 52 yards. The Jaguars beat the Falcons 20 - 17 for their week 4 game. Both teams had all their back-ups in except their kickers. Bowling Green rookie, Charles Sharron had 2 touchdowns on 3 receptions for 45 yards. Hankton also had 3 receptions for 58 yards. Quinn Gray led the Jaguars going 8 of 12 for 129 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Quarterback Byron Leftwich led the Jaguars to a 24 - 17 win over Terrell Owens and the Cowboys. Leftwich completed 23 of 34 for 237 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Running back Fred Taylor had 21 carries for 74 yards with one touchdown. Wide receiver Matt Jones had 5 receptions for 71 yards for a 14.2 avg. Wide receiver Ernest Wilford had 3 receptions for 58 yards for a 19.3 avg.

Drew Bledsoe completed 16 of 33 for 246 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Running back Julius Jones had 17 carries for 72 yards with one touchdown. He also had one reception for 39 yards. Wide receiver Terry Glenn had 4 receptions for 81 yards for a 20.3 avg. Wide receiver Terrell Owens had 6 receptions for 80 yards for a 13.3 avg. with one touchdown.
