51st Daytona 500 Betting Odds - Ryan Newman 2008 Champion

2009 Daytona 500 February 15th at Daytona International Speedway

The 51st Daytona 500 betting odds have been posted by the largest and safest online sportsbook on the Web, SportsBook.com. The Great American Race heads back to the famous Daytona International Speedway in Daytona beach, Florida for the 2009 Daytona 500 showdown. This will be the first race of 36 for the Nextel Cup championship but because of the 2008 economic crisis, NASCAR cancelled all pre-season testing including the January sessions at Daytona. This will mark the first time that all cars will be in place as the teams will practice at the track to open the season sight unseen. The track has a distance of 2.5 miles and is a tri-oval shaped course. The race is on Sunday, February 15th and begins at 2:00 p.m. EST, airing live on FOX.

Posting +2500 odds, Matt Kenseth won the 2009 Daytona 500. It wasn't a thrilling finish by any means except to Kenseth. The race ended because of rain after lap 152.

NASCAR's premier race, the Daytona 500 takes place once a year at the Daytona International Speedway. It was established by NASCAR in 1959 at the newly opened Daytona International Raceway in Daytona, FL. The 2.5-mile banked track at Daytona, which has permanent seating for about 90,000 spectators, was built near the site of a Daytona beach course that had been used for stock car racing in the 1930s. A crowd of 41,000 fans witnessed the 59 cars who took to the 200-lap race. Lee Petty was the winner by a few feet.

Ryan Newman is the reigning Champion at the Daytona 500. He is now driving for Stewart Haas Racing in the #39 US Army Chevrolet Impala with sponsorship from the U.S. Army and posts betting odds to win at +3000 (a $100 wager pays out $3000). Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the favorite to win with +500 odds, followed by Kyle Busch posting +600 odds, Jeff Gordon with +700 odds and Jimmi Johnson with +900 odds. Place your bets on the racer you think is ready to win the 2009 Daytona 500 and have a blast watching all the intense action!
