2006 NFL Betting: Dolphins or Patriots in the AFC East?
by Blake Butterfield

Pats: don't count them out just yet The NFL's AFC East is sure to be a battle this season. Finally, the Miami Dolphins finally have someone at the quarterback position that they at least know was able to excel at the position at one point in Daunte Culpepper and very well may do so again. They have not had anything approaching such promise since the departure of Dan Marino- what seems like a lifetime ago.
The addition of two former head coaches taking over the defensive and offensive coordinator positions can't hurt their chances of going over the posted total of 9 wins this season either. It appears that the public is certainly buying into Daunte Culpepper's rehab, as the price has now risen to -140.
The New England Patriots own their division, going 23-6 since Tom Brady took over from Drew Bledsoe in 2001. Four of those six losses have been to Miami so you can give them the four wins over the Jets and the Bills again this year without hesitation and a split with the Fins. In fact, looking at their remaining games, this squad, barring major injuries to more than half the team, should be able to go 11-5, a half game over the posted total of 10.5 wins. Bettors again disagree but is ia costing them -150, giving a sweet +120 value on the over.
