Fantasy Football Ranking

When you are participating in Fantasy Football as an owner, your Fantasy Football ranking plays a very important part in your overall success throughout the season. Your team's ranking differs considerably from the actual professional football teams' rankings because your team is virtual; it consists of players from many professional teams. For this reason, your team's Fantasy Football ranking is determined by how each of your individual players is faring throughout the season.

Fantasy Football ranking starts with the draft, where individual players' rankings play an important part in whom you want to choose for your team. At this point the rankings are not for the virtual teams, but for the players, since the teams have yet to be chosen. Before and during the draft, the players' rankings will be determined by their performance in the previous seasons, as well as such issues as current injuries, how well a player may work with his current teammates, how well practices are going, etc. Owners can view current player rankings and base their draft choices or draft auction biddings on these rankings, or during the season they can base trade choices on individual player rankings.

After teams are chosen, individual players continue to get Fantasy Football rankings, but the Fantasy Football teams also get rankings according to how they are doing at certain periods of time during the season. Your team's ranking will depend on how each individual player on your virtual team is doing. Players accrue Fantasy Football points according to actual points they score or help score during games. You can optimize your team's ranking by "benching" certain players during certain games and playing the ones that you think will score or help score the most points. This is where your personal strategy comes into play as the season progresses, and it is one of the most exciting parts of being an owner in a Fantasy Football league.

Fantasy Football Rankings: Quarterbacks

Fantasy Football Rankings: Running Backs

Fantasy Football Rankings: Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

Obviously, you cannot have a virtual team consisting of all the highest ranking Fantasy Football players. Just as in the regular "real" professional football draft, you will be able to have some players with higher ranking but will also have to have players with lower rankings. Choosing your lower-ranking players actually takes a lot more consideration then choosing the players that you are almost certain will score you the highest points. Your lower-ranking players still need to score enough points for your team to support your overall team rankings, so a little more thought and research should go into choosing these players.
