Football Wagering OddsFootball wagering odds are relatively easy to figure out. Just like in most other sports, football wagering odds include multiple ways to bet on a game, betting the line, over/under's or totals, as well as a varying number of side bets, depending on which sports betting site you use. Football wagering odds are fairly easy to understand, so you can spend your time researching and making good bets, and not trying to figure out what a sportsbook is talking about. While technically the line is all the numbers as it relates to betting on a game, in this instance it specifically refers to the payout on a win. On any given week you have two teams, A and B. Team A is the "away team" while team B is the home team. In the match-up, they are listed A and then B. Next to the teams is going to be a relatively large number: -200 or +150. These are the results of the calculations by the bookmakers and represent the payout if you correctly pick a team that wins or at least beats the spread. The negative number is assigned to the team that the bookmakers expect will win while the positive number is assigned to the team that is expected to lose. This number is representative of the payout. If you bet on the winning team, in this case a -200, that means you have to bet $200 to win $100. If you bet on the other team, however, and they beat the spread, you win $150 for every $100 you bet. Mike Jones' FREE NFL Week 11 Picks and NFL Week 12 Picks! The other way to bet on the teams included in the football wagering odds are the totals, also called over/unders, and you can also place side bets. To the right of the line number, you will find the total. This number is how many points the house expects will be scored in a game. You can bet that it will be over or under this amount. It does not matter who scores the points. If the total ends up being exactly what the house thinks it will be, you push with the house and no money changes hands. You can also make side bets, which vary depending on the house. Most will set up football wagering odds for side bets, including how many touchdowns a specific player will be credited or how many complete passes a quarterback will throw.
