Philadelphia -150 (Hamels) VS. Washington (Astacio) 7:05 ETCole Hamels returns to the bump tonight after his horrific last outing against the Cubs of all teams. He was clearly off his game considering the Cubs can't hit left-handed pitching whatsoever, and he allowed 9 hits and 5 runs in only 2 innings of work. Something else had to be on this kids mind, or maybe he just couldn't believe he was pitching in Wrigley during the day after watching the Cubs for so many years on TV as a kid. Who knows!!! Either way, I'm looking for him to bounce back in a huge way tonight and lead the Phillies to another victory. The Phillies lit Ramon Ortiz up the only time they faced him this season, which just so happened to be 11 days ago. He gave up 5 hits and 8 ER's in only 1.2 innings of work. Ortiz has really faltered of late, and I'm looking for more of the same to occur this evening. The Phillies really laid the lumber to the hosting Nationals last night as they pounded Washington pitching for 15 hits and 10 runs en route to their 66th win of the season. The win kept them on pace in the Wild Card race, and they now sit just a half game back of the Reds and Padres for the lead. This team has really put it together since the trade deadline, and I believe they're the team that's actually going to win out in this battle of mediocrity. They've got the hitting, fielding, and now the pitching to actually pull off this feat.
