For their second week game of the 2008 NCAA season the South Carolina Gamecocks lost 24-17 to Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks team leaders include; quarterback Chris Smelley completing 28 passes on 44 attempts for 325 yards with four touchdowns, running back Mike Davis leads in rushing with 32 carries for 181 yards with one touchdown and wide receiver Jared Cook leads in receiving with 10 receptions for 130 yards with one touchdwown. South Carolina finished the 2007 season fifth in the SEC East with a 3-5 conference record and a 6-6 overall record.
