NFC Beasts Collide - New York Giants at New Orleans Saints

The two best teams in the NFC hook up in New Orleans as the Saints host the Giants in what could be a NFC Championship preview. While both teams are undefeated they have also been very kind to their backers. The Saints are 9-1-1 in their last 11 ATS, while the Giants have covered in 17 of its last 21 games against the teams with winning records.

NFL Point Spread: Saints -3, O/U 47

This game will also feature some bad blood as Jeremy Shockey certainly circled this game on his calendar anticipating an opportunity to face his former team. Drew Brees and Eli Manning are both having MVP caliber seasons and this one could turn out to be an old-fashioned shootout.

What The Giants Have To Do To Win

The key for New York will be to try to slow down Drew Brees and the Saints passing game. Brees was on an incredible pace throwing touchdowns through two weeks but surprisingly was held without a touchdown pass in the last two games against Buffalo and New York. The Saints were still able to win those games but if the Giants are able to limit the big play out of Brees they have the ability to score more points than the last two Saints opponents.

The Giants have been road warriors the last three seasons and will not be intimidated playing in the loud dome. Eli Manning who is certainly not 100 percent will need to continue to play at a high level as he comes in to this game with an incredible 111.7 quarterback rating.

What The Saints Have To Do To Win

The Saints are fresh off the bye and have been dominant at home against quality opponent, covering in nine of its last ten games against teams with winning records. The Saints are very balanced on offense and finally have all three of their running backs healthy as Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell are all expected to have roles in the running game.

While the Saints offense has been explosive the defense continues to fly under the radar. This unit has played very well in back-to-back wins against the Bills and Jets. They will have their work cut out for them against a balanced Giants attack. With Manning less than 100% the Saints do have an opportunity to make some big plays.

NFL Handicapping: Outlook & Pick:

The key in this battle of the titans could be the Saints are fresh off the bye. So far this season teams coming off the bye have played extremely well and I see the same thing happening this week. New Orleans is healthy and with Atlanta playing very well in their division, the Saints know they cannot afford to slip up.

The Giants have been extremely impressive but the Eli Manning injury has to be a concern. He didn't have to do anything to beat the Raiders last week but this will obviously be a much different challenge. The Saints will find a way to stay perfect on the season.

NFL Point Spread Pick: Saints -3 & over 47
