Thirteen countries managed to appear for the first game which was won by Uruguay when they beat Argentina by two goals. In the following years Mexico, Argentina, Spain, West Germany, the USA and France have hosted unforgettable tournaments and introduced the world to some impeccable players including Bobby Moore, Pele, Maradona, David Beckham, Ronaldo and Robert Baggio.
