Bushfire paid $ 8.60 in the $250,000 Mother Goose as she came from behind to win by of a length in 149.4 for the mile and an eighth. Pine Island was second and Ready to Please was third. The handicap horses were in action this weekend and Invasor defeated a group of older horses in the Grade I Suburban Handicap ($400,000) at Belmont Park. Invasor, coming off a big win in the Pimlico Special, came from behind and won by 4 lengths.
