Johnny "Orient Express" Chan


Professional Poker player Johnny Chan is affectionately known by the members of the Poker playing community as Johnny "Orient Express" Chan. Born in China, Chan moved to Hong Kong in '62 and later moved to Phoenix Arizona in '68. Just five years later, Chan's family moved to Texas and started several restaurants. Several years after Chan graduated high school he attend the University of Houston and majored in restaurant management. Nevertheless, Chan's life took him in a different direction and he ultimately wound up in Vegas as a professional Poker player.

In '87 and '88, Chan successfully won the World Series of Poker Main Event two consecutive years in a row. Later, in '89, he finished second, losing to Phil "Poker Brat" Hellmuth. Chan would be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2002 for winning ten World Series Poker titles in all! What's more, Chan has won a total of 11 World Series of Poker Bracelets, a record which was held only by one other professional Poker player, Doyle Brunson. But late in the 2006 WSOP, Phil Hellmuth Jr. would claim his eleventh title and then ultimately break the record in 2007, winning WSOP event #15.
