Holiday Bowl Betting Preview: Bet Mississippi vs Texas Tech

Cotton Bowl Betting Preview
Mississippi (8-4) vs. Texas Tech (11-1)
Friday, 2:00 pm Eastern - FOX

SBG Global Opening Line:
Texas Tech -6, Total 71

Texas Tech finished the season 11-1 and was definitely worthy of a BCS Bowl game but since no conference can have more than two teams in the BCS they were left out in the cold as Texas and Oklahoma grabbed the spots. The #8 Red Raiders had to settle for the Cotton Bowl and a matchup with #20 Mississippi. Texas Tech doesn't seem too disappointed though, especially since they get to play close to home. "Eleven and one is pretty special, especially out of Texas Tech," quarterback Graham Harrell said. "We did a lot of good things this season so hopefully a lot of people will respect that."
SBG Global reports that early College Football betting has the public taking Texas Tech at Home.

It will be the final game ever in Cotton Bowl Stadium since the Cotton Bowl will move to the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium next year. Texas Tech should get tested by a Mississippi team that has won five straight. Head coach Houston Nutt turned the Rebels around in just one season, winning big games against Florida and LSU along the way. All four of Mississippi's losses came by a touchdown or less. "We gained a lot of confidence when we beat Florida in The Swamp, but we couldn't handle success very well the following week (a 31-24 loss to South Carolina)," Nutt said. "We got on a roll so the last five weeks and November has been fun, but it starts with our seniors they've taken ownership of our team."

SBG Global Current Line: Texas Tech -4, Total 69.5

Mississippi allowed 17.8 points per game on defense this season, 15th in the nation but they could have trouble slowing down a Texas Tech offense that put up 44.6 points per game. Harrell and receiver Michael Crabtree lead an explosive offense. "Harrell is so cool and confident and the receivers he has and their defense are underrated, they are so good," Nutt said. "I can see why they lost just one ball game." Harrell needs just two touchdown passes to break Colt Brennan's NCAA all-time record of 131 TD passes. On the other side, Mississippi quarterback Jevan Snead leads an offense that scored almost 31 points per game.

Texas Tech has won their last two bowl games, 44-41 two years ago against Minnesota and 31-28 against Virginia last year. Texas Tech is 2-2 all-time against Mississippi. Texas Tech has lost all three of their previous College Football betting Cotton Bowl games while Mississippi is 2-1 all-time in the game.
