AFC East Conference - New England Patriots PreviewThe New England Patriots look like a team on the decline, as they lost a ton of players in the off-season without adding much veteran help. New England did have a good draft as usual, but outside of Laurence Maroney, they may not reap the benefits for another couple of years. This team is still good enough to win one of the weakest divisions in football in the AFC East, but we do expect another early exit in the playoffs similar to last year.2008 AFC Conference Championship: San Diego Chargers vs New England Patriots 2008 NFC Conference Championship: New York Giants vs Green Bay Packers Granted the Pats still has one of the best clutch quarterbacks of all time in Tom Brady, and the speedy Maroney should see a lot of action at running back right away as a nice compliment to the more bruising Corey Dillon. However the receiving corps is suddenly suspect, unless second round draft pick Chad Jackson has an immediate impact. Now Jackson is talented, but wide receivers usually need a few years in the league before reaching their potential, and we feel that is the case here. Finally, the Patriots no longer have kicker Adam Vinatieri around to kick winning field goals with games on the line. Check out Bovada and start winning NOW! The defense was the cornerstone of the Patriot championship teams, but this unit showed some slippage last season, especially against the pass. In fact the secondary was torched for 245.4 passing yards per game, second worst in the NFL. Furthermore New England lost linebackers Willie McGinnest and Matt Chatham to free agency, as well as defensive back Tyrone Poole. The only veteran addition to this unit is safety Tebucky Jones, which is not saying much, so look for good passing teams to take advantage of this New England team at every opportunity. Fortunately for the Patriots, there is no such team inside the division. Prediction for 2006: 1st Place AFC East After predicting multiple Super Bowl winners, expert NFL handicapper Mike "The Picker" Jones has returned with his 2012 Super Bowl XLVI prediction! His early Superbowl prediction was the New York Jets but after them falling apart towards the end of the regular season and missing out on the NFL playoffs, Mike now is going with the Patriots to win Superbowl XLVI. "I predict the AFC East New England Patriots will take down NFC powerhouse New York Giants by four points in the 2012 Super Bowl!" Good luck with all your 2012 NFL picks and have fun with a few Super Bowl prop bets at SBG Global Sportsbook, the world-wide leaders of online gambling! Super Bowl XLVI Picks from JP - The New England Patriots and the New York Giants will meet once again in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, February 5th at 6:30pm ET in a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl. The rematch will go down at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where the Patriots will take the field as 3-point favorites over the New York Giants, but I have it going the other way. I think New York's defensive front will use the turf to its advantage and will get to Tom Brady enough times with their ferocious pass rush, while Eli Manning will slice up the Patriots' secondary, which will lead them to stop the Patriots at the finish line. The Pats may be the better team, but the Giants are the hotter club and that will translate onto the field on Super Sunday.
