NFC South Conference - New Orleans Saints PreviewWhile the New Orleans Saints made some strides in improving their squad after winning just three games last season, we still think that their weak offensive line and terrible run defenses will be their undoing. They are expected to be much better on offense due to the drafting of Reggie Bush and the signing of Drew Brees as a free agent. While the Saints should improve somewhat, we do not feel it will be as significantly as other people think because of a patchwork offensive line. Remember to that Drees is recovering from surgery after separating his shoulder, so besides having less time to throw than he did in San Diego, his arm strength is probably not where it needs to be yet. Sure Bush is a superstar in waiting, but as great as he is he cannot display his talents to their fullest unless he has some holes to run through. Sure it wil still be exciting to see him stop on a dime and reverse his field and whatnot, and he will break off some nice runs on elusiveness alone, but it is virtually impossible to have any consistency without a good offensive line. The Saints do have some nice depth at running back with incumbent Deuce McAllister now back from knee surgery and Michael Bennett acquired from Minnesota, making this the best position on the team. The receiving corps looks solid with the Joe Horn and Chris Horn (no relation), but will Brees be able to get them the ball? Check out Bovada and start winning NOW! The defense dreadful against the run last year, ranking 27th in the league in that category allowing 134.1 rushing yards per game. Unfortunately they did not bring in enough help to improve this area, with the lone exception of linebacker Anthony Simmons, formerly of Seattle. New Orleans had an opportunity to draft a lineman in the second round but instead opted for safety Ronan Harper, a curious choice considering that this is one of the few positions where the Saints appeared set with safeties Daniel Bullocks and Bryan Scott on the roster. This team will probably win more then three games this season, but we still project the New Orleans Saints to finish dead last in the division again this year. Prediction for 2006: 4th Place NFC South After predicting multiple Super Bowl winners, expert NFL handicapper Mike "The Picker" Jones has returned with his 2012 Super Bowl XLVI prediction! His early Superbowl prediction was the New York Jets but after them falling apart towards the end of the regular season and missing out on the NFL playoffs, Mike now is going with the Patriots to win Superbowl XLVI. "I predict the AFC East New England Patriots will take down NFC powerhouse New York Giants by four points in the 2012 Super Bowl!" Super Bowl XLVI Picks from JP - The New England Patriots and the New York Giants will meet once again in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, February 5th at 6:30pm ET in a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl. The rematch will go down at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where the Patriots will take the field as 3-point favorites over the New York Giants, but I have it going the other way. I think New York's defensive front will use the turf to its advantage and will get to Tom Brady enough times with their ferocious pass rush, while Eli Manning will slice up the Patriots' secondary, which will lead them to stop the Patriots at the finish line. The Pats may be the better team, but the Giants are the hotter club and that will translate onto the field on Super Sunday. --- by Bones McCoy at 1800-sports.com on October 01, 2006
