NFC Underdogs Looking Good!

by BetUS Staff

Since real Super Bowl betting started, it has been all about the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Conference this season. I'm having trouble jumping on that bandwagon as the Cowboys, even with their stellar line-up of offensive and defensive players, doesn't appear to have the right mind set to actually make it to the Super Bowl.

To me, the Cowboys are lacking a real leader. I think back to past teams that have won the Super Bowl and there has always been a veteran on that team that made the difference mentally for the squad. Who is that player on this team?

NFL betting fans had better think about that. The Cowboys are 3.5 to 1 to win the NFC Conference. Those underlaid odds make the Cowboys a definite play against. Do you really trust the Jessica smitten Tony Romo? That seriously mentally impaired Terrell Owens? How about the mosey along, laid back style of Coach Wade Phillips?

Yeah. I didn't think so.

So, if I'm correct and the 'Boys aren't the team to beat in the NFC, then who is?

Well, after watching this NFL Pre-season, and watching the fall-out in these meaningless games, I do have some ideas. First, here are the also-rans.

The New York Giants have no chance without both Michael Strahan and Usi Umeniyora. No defensive pressure on the quarterback means no repeat for this team. It doesn't matter how good the offense is. They are a terrible online wagering proposition to win the Super Bowl this NFL season.

No Brett Favre means no winning season in Green Bay. Oh, yeah, I forgot, Aaron Rodgers has potential. I'm not going with this guy in any way, shape or form. This team had a great chance of making it to the Super Bowl with Brett. They have no chance without Brett. That's my story and I'm sticking to it until the Packers prove me wrong.

The Minnesota Vikings are a tad overrated to make it to the Super Bowl. Sure, they have a stellar one-two punch at running back, Tarvaris Jackson should improve, and the defense is good. But there are other teams that improved more over the off season that I like that should cause the Vikes headaches. I also believe that the NFC North is underrated and if anybody believes that the Vikings will run their way to online betting glory, they will be sorely mistaken.

Now, let's get to the teams that could definitely surprise this season.

Both the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles could bounce back and give the Cowboys a run for their money in the NFC East. Philadelphia, in particular Donovan McNabb, looked terrific during the NFL Pre-season.

For the Redskins, the fact that Jason Campbell appears to have grasped new coach Jim Zorn's offensive playbook is excellent news. He looked much improved during the NFL Pre-season. The Skins are a definite team to watch from an football betting perspective.

The New Orleans Saints could dominate starting in week one. This team is loaded on offense and loaded on defense. Jonathan Vilma, acquired from the New York Jets this past off season, is the answer at middle linebacker.

He was flying to the ball during the pre-season. Sedrick Ellis, the Saints' number one draft pick, might actually prove to be a better NFL Pro then the defensive lineman chosen before him, Glenn Dorsey.

If the Saints stay healthy, I really don't see them losing the NFC this year. They are full of leaders with Deuce McCallister, Will Smith and Drew Brees all proving to be capable generals on the field. They have that perfect mix of veterans and young players to get to the Super Bowl and Coach Sean Payton is an excellent play caller.

At online NFL wagering odds of 25 to 1 to win the Super Bowl XLIII, the Saints are the team to beat in the NFC.
