NFL Playoff Picks 2011 - Bet Jets vs Patriots - Sunday, January 16th, 4:30pm EST CBS

The NFL Playoff picks 2011 divisional round on the Pro Football betting season are out on the New York Jets vs the New England Patriots Sunday evening football match-up. This Sunday the New York Jets head to Gillette Stadium as a 9 point underdog to battle their AFC East rival New England Patriots.

The New York Jets offense vs the New England Patriots defense is a good matchup. The Jets are 11th in yards and 13th in points, while the Patriots are 25th in yards allowed and 8th in points allowed. The Jets are one of the best teams in rushing, 4th in rushing. Expect them to the run the ball a lot, and then set up the play action pass which they are very good in play action. If the Jets pass the ball too much, this Patriots defense will be making plays and will create turnovers; they are 2nd in creating turnovers. The Jets are too smart to do that, which is why the NFL Playoff picks 2011 advantage goes to the Jets.

The New England Patriots offense vs the New York Jets defense is a great matchup. The Patriots are 8th in yards and 1st in points, while the Jets are 3rd in yards allowed and 6th in points allowed. Everything in this matchup is very good. A great passing offense, with quarterback Tom Brady, that is always protected and doesn't throw interceptions against the 6th ranked passing defense that can get pressure on the quarterback and can create turnovers. The 9th ranked rushing offense against the 3rd rank rushing defense. There really isn't an advantage in this game, but I will give the slight NFL picks 2011advantage to the Patriots because of Tom Brady and his ability to read the defense.

The special teams are also a good matchup. The Jets are 3rd in kickoff return average but 20th in punt return average, while the Patriots are 18th in kickoff return average but 3rd in punt return average. The Jets are 3rd in kickoff return average allowed but 26th in punt return average, while the Patriots are 17th in kickoff return average allowed and 6th in punt return average allowed. What's interesting about this matchup is that the Jets are good in the kickoff special teams' game, and the Patriots are good in the punting special teams' game. I will give the NFL Playoff picks 2011 advantage to the Patriots for 2 reasons; the Jets are worse in the punting special teams than the Patriots are in the kickoff special teams, and the Patriots are very good in kicking the ball away from the returner.

This is a great coaching matchup. The head coach of the Jets, Rex Ryan, was the defensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens who was one of the greatest defenses when he was there. He brought in his system to the Jets and they are executing his defense perfectly. The offensive coordinator of the Jets, Brian Schottenheimer, comes from his father Marty Schottenheimer who coached the San Diego Chargers to being one of the best offenses in his time there. Brian helps this offense and has a great running offense that sets up the passing game. The Patriots have probably one of the greatest coaching minds in history, Bill Belichick. He always finds the weakness in each team and attacks it. He is the best at making adjustments during games. He also has one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Tom Brady. This is a very good matchup, but I will always go with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady over any other team. Advantage goes to the Patriots.

My NFL Playoff picks 2011 divisional round on the New York Jets vs New England Patriots Sunday evening football game is out. This game might depend on what happens early in the game. If the Patriots get out to an early lead, than the Jets will probably throw the ball more than what they are use to. The one thing that the Patriots do on defense is get interceptions, and once the Jets start throwing the ball, the Patriots will have those opportunities to get turnovers, which means the Jest will have no chance in this game. If the Jets are smart, which they are, they will run the ball even if they are down. It will be a good matchup between Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and his offensive schemes against Patriots coach Bill Belichick and his defensive schemes. On the other side, it will be a great coaching matchup between Jets coach Rex Ryan and his defensive schemes against Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. This will go back and forth. However, like I said before, I will go with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady over anybody. This will be a better game than last time these 2 teams met, but it will have to go down to the Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, and that isn't good for the Jest. He will make a mistake against this defense that is the best team in getting interceptions and 2nd in creating turnovers. The Patriots will win this one 31-23.
