Betting Structures

Betting structures in Texas Holdem vary and are more commonly known as antes. But to get the game of No Limit Texas Holdem rolling, initial amounts of mandatory bets are needed to kick off things. Commonly, this is started out by the two players on the left side of the dealer who are expected to set the posting of blinds. The way No Limit Texas Holdem tournaments are structured, the blind and/or antes go up after a set period of time, called the "escalation". Each group of time where the blind/antes stay the same is called a "level". If antes are introduced, they usually do not double every level.

Once the amounts are set, the dealer will shuffle a complete deck of 52 playing cards, each player being given 2 cards that are faced down. A round of betting will commence, usually started by the players on the left. After a betting round ends, a dealer discards the top card, called the burn card to prevent cheating after which all succeeding cards shall be dealt face up to each player followed by another set of betting among them. Such a cycle occurs once again, known as the turn, followed by the last set of deal, known as the river. After this, a showdown, or revealing all their hands follows among all the players. The player with the best hand wins.
