Odds to Win the Super Bowl

The odds to win the Super Bowl in 2008 are not so clearly predictable, and this year's game will prove to be an exciting one. The Patriots seem to have the best odds to win the Super Bowl, however, this advantage is only apparent, since the Patriots have suffered from a few major injuries this year, including Ted Bruschi's stroke and receiver Smith's broken leg. Both players seemed to have recovered well, much to the relief of fans and well-wishers, however, the loss of time to the Patriots has been a liability, which will challenge their odds to win the Super Bowl. No team has ever won three consecutive Super Bowl victories, and the odds to win the Super Bowl yet again are unprecedented. In spite of this, many people believe that the Patriots can deliver the goods yet again, and make Super Bowl history with three consecutive Super Bowl victories.

The Indianapolis Colts seem to have very good odds to win the Super Bowl as well, in spite of problems with their defense. Their nearly perfect record this season has inspired fans to long for the top victory, and Peyton Manning is expected to continue his consistent record for superb performance. However, defense is still an important part of the game, especially when dealing with another team's excellent offense, and many people see this as too great a flaw to give the Colts strong odds to win the Super Bowl. Others have pointed out that the Colts' Manning has yet to be victorious over the Patriots' Brady, although many support the Colts over the Patriots as the "underdog" team which has yet to win a Super Bowl victory. Many people think that is the Patriot's past success that, ironically, hurts their odds to win the Super Bowl again this year, since a three-time Super Bowl win would be unprecedented.

In the Western Division, the odds to win the Super Bowl seem equally divided between teams, but many believe that the Denver Broncos have a slight edge. Many people doubt that Oakland has good odds to win the Super Bowl, because their star player, Randy Moss, is currently out of favor due to his behavior on and off the field. His controversial remarks about smoking pot have not helped him or the team very much, and the performance as well as the image of Oakland has suffered in the past year. Denver's Jake "The Snake" Plummer, although sometimes inconsistent, is one of the best receivers currently playing the game, and as the Broncos main asset, Plummer's performance may be decisive in improving Denver's odds to win the Super Bowl.
