The online Omaha Poker is the game which is played similar to the real Omaha game but since it is played online, you would be competing with players even outside the state or country without any apprehension. One online player acts as a designated dealer who will be the last during the betting rounds. A disk or a virtual "button" is used to identify the dealer and this is rotated to the left after each hand. The two players to the left of the dealer put out blind bets. It is called a blind bet because you haven't seen a card when you put in this bet - it is 'unseen' or blind.

The player directly to the dealer's left puts out the small blind whereas the player two to the dealer's left puts out the big blind. The small blind for the $2/4 game is one dollar. The player to the left of the small blind posts the big blind which is equal to the minimum bet, which is two dollars for this game. The rest of the players do not put up any money to start the hand. As the virtual button rotates around the table, each player will ultimately act as the big blind, small blind and dealer.

After the blinds are posted, each online player is given four cards face down with the player on the small blind receiving the first card and the player with the dealer button receiving the last card. The first betting round starts with the player to the left of the big blind either putting in two dollars to "Call" the blind bet, or chipping in four dollars to "raise" the big blind or folding his hand. The betting goes around the online Omaha Poker table in order until it arrives at the player who posted the small blind. That player can call the bet by putting in one dollar since a dollar bet was already posted.

The last person to act is the big blind. If nobody has 'raised', the dealer will ask if the big blind has the option to raise or just "check". When the first betting round is completed, the dealer will discard the top card on the deck. This is done to ensure that the top card is not revealed to the players. Three cards are dealt and you would see it flashing face up on your computer screen. This is also called the "Flop." These are community cards used by all the players. Yet another betting round commences with the first active player to the left of the dealer button. The minimum bet is set for three dollars. After the fourth round is over or the flop is completed, the dealer discards and start with the fourth card which is called the "turn." The minimum bet after the "turn" is set for four dollars and begins with the first active player to the left of the button.

The 'turn' being over, the dealer burns or discards another card and the fifth and the final card is turned on the screen face up. This is called the "river," and the final betting round begins with four dollars being the minimum bet. There is typically a three or four raise maximum during all betting rounds except if the play acquires the status of heads up with two players. Then the raises are unlimited on many online sites.

How do you determine the winner? Well the players must utilize the two of his whole cards and three cards from the "Board" to form the highest five-card hand. In some rare cases the best hand will be the five cards on board. In that case the active players will split or share the pot.
