Eli, G-Men, Look to Stay Perfect, Face Pathetic Rams

The New York Giants (1-0 SU, 1-0 ATS, 0-1 O/U) may not have looked like world champions in their Week One 16-7 win over the Washington Redskins last Thursday, but the Giants could have put their uniforms on backwards last week and would have looked more competent than the St. Louis Rams (0-1 SU, 0-1 ATS, 0-1 O/U) did in their 38-3 rout at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles.

New York got a respectable performance out of starting quarterback Eli Manning who completed 19-of-35 passes for 216 yards and ran for one score and another solid effort out of starting running back Brandon Jacobs who carried 21 times for 116 yards. The Giants also got a powerful performance out of wide receiver Plaxico Burres who caught 10 balls for 133 yards.

Defensively, New York held the rebuilding Redskins to just 209 total yards, including just 84 rushing yards.

The Rams looked just awful on both sides of the ball in their loss to Philadelphia. The Rams amassing just 166 yards of total offense, including a pitiful 36 rushing yards despite having one of the game's best running backs in Stephen Jackson.

Defensively, St. Louis wasn't much better, allowing Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to go 21-for-33 for 361 yards and three touchdowns and running back Brian Westbrook to rush for 91 yards and one touchdown on just 19 carries.

Analysis: While the St. Louis Rams looked downright atrocious in their season-opener last week - and the Giants are legitimate Super Bowl contenders - something tells me that the Rams are going to cover the spread while putting up a serious fight before falling just short. While St. Louis showed me absolutely no reason whatsoever to take them in this contest, that's exactly what I'm going to do with one of the most dysfunctional teams in the league.
