2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl Betting Odds

The ACC leads the SEC in the rivalry series 8 games to 6 since the two conferences first began to battle for regional bragging rights in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in 1993. Teams from the ACC have outscored their SEC rivals 278-269 in what has turned into a very "streaky" series. The ACC won four straight from 1992-1995 followed by five years of SEC victories 1996-2000 which was followed by another four-game ACC run 2001-2004. The tide shifted again last year when LSU defeated Miami. Eight of the 14 games have been decided by a touchdown or less.

Really Close Games

Over the last 20 years, the Chick-fil-A Bowl is the most competitive bowl game in college football. Since 1986, the average margin of victory is only 8.4 points per game. During its 38-year history, the Bowl has recorded 10 games decided by a field goal or less and four one-point games.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl also holds the record for the largest football crowd in the history of the Georgia Dome - 75,125 in 2003 (Clemson vs. Tennessee)

The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the ninth-oldest bowl game in college football and the oldest ACC vs. SEC match-up in the bowl business.
