2011 Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Predictions

The Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl predictions for the 2010-2011 Pro Football season are out. The Steelers remain in the hunt for the Super Bowl XLV championship title posting 5/1 odds early on in the post-season. They are set to host the higher seed in the 2nd round of the playoffs next week.

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense is good enough to make it in the playoffs. They are 14th in yards and 12th in points. They have a pretty good running game with Rashard Mendenhall. They have a good receiving core, including number 1 target and deep threat Mike Wallace. The one issue they have is protecting the quarterback, but they have a good quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger who can make plays with his legs and is probably better when he is scrambling.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a great defense. They are 2nd in yards allowed and 1st in points allowed. They just do not give up any rushing yards, and that's what you need to do in the playoffs. They get to the quarterback better than anybody in the league and they can get turnovers better than anyone. Offenses can throw on this team, but not after a couple of turnovers 1st.

The special teams kicking game is pretty good, but the punting game isn't that good. They are 13th in kickoff return average but last in punt return average. They are however 5th in kickoff return average allowed and 18th in punt return average allowed. When it comes to the kicking game, they win the battle of field position. When it comes to the punting game, they don't win the field position game.

The Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau has one of the greatest defensive minds in the league. The Steelers defensive players are good, but then take these 2 great minds and this defense is great. On offense, usually Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger takes control of it.

Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Predictions

In order to win in the playoffs, you need to run the ball and play good defense. This team has both working for them. They run the ball better than anyone, and maybe the defense isn't the greatest, but they make the big plays. There is just 1 thing that they are missing, and that's the experience of playing in the playoffs. If you take that out of this equation, they have a great chance of winning the super bowl. The odds of them winning are 5-1, but I could really see them making a run as long as they do what they do best.
