The chalk better gives points and gets better odds that the moneyline better. Both bets could easily be -110, which mean they both, have to bet $110 to win $100. Points make the difference in determining the winner. The final score difference must be less than the points given for the dog better to win. The chalk team wins by fewer points or loses outright. The difference for the chalk better must be higher than the points given in favor of the favorite.
