2008 Week 4 NFL Pick: Redskins Look To Humble Cowboys

by Eric Williams

The Dallas Cowboys (3-0 SU, 2-1 ATS, 1-2 O/U), have looked excellent in winning each of their first three games and enter today's contest coming off a thorough 27-16 spanking of the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The 'Boys dominated the Packers on both sides of the ball with quarterback Tony Romo going 17-of-30 for 260 yards and one touchdown while Marion Barber rushed for a career-high 142 yards and a touchdown. Rookie Felix Jones added a 60-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter.

"We've got a good football team, I know that," Romo said. "But it doesn't matter whether you're the favorite now or the least favorite. The reality of it is you've got to keep playing games and you're not trying to be the favorite in Week 3, you're trying to be it at the end of the year."

Defensively, Dallas kept the Packers out of the end zone until the final two minutes of the game when the game was clearly out of reach.

The Washington Redskins (2-1 SU, 2-1 ATS, 1-2 O/U), have won two straight games after dropping their season opener, including an encouraging 24-17 home win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

The Redskins have scored 53 points in winning their last two games operating in first-year head coach Jim Zorn's version of the West Coast offense.

Young quarterback Jason Campbell completed 23 of 31 passes for 193 yards with two touchdowns and hasn't thrown a single interception all season long in Zorn's efficient dink and dunk offense.

Starting running back Clinton Portis ran 21 times for 68 yards and added a touchdown for Washington.

"After the game against the Giants, we said that the next two games were must wins," tight end Chris Cooley said. "This was a huge win. I think that if we continue winning, we will look back and say that this was when we became a good team."

Dallas is ranked first in total offense, averaging 440.0 total yards per game while the ranking ninth in overall defense.

The Redskins are ranked 14th in overall offense, averaging 329.0 total yards per game and 13th in overall defense, allowing 305.7 yards per game.

Dallas Cowboys -11 -110 -500

Analysis: While the Cowboys are clearly the better of the two teams in this matchup, something tells me the Skins are going to find some sort of way to keep this game closer than the current 11-point spread. However, the best bet on this matchup is to take the 'Over' as I expect both teams to put up their fair share of points in this contest.
