He threw for 169 first half yards going 15/21 and scoring twice. He connected on a 22 yard touchdown pass to Vincent Jackson to cap a 64 yard drive. And to start the second quarter he marched 86 yards on 18 plays. During week 2, they lost 24 - 3 to the Bears. Last week they beat the Seahawks 31 - 20. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had a rough game. He lost three fumbles and injured his arm. He finished 6/11 for 89 yards. Feeley was 4/4 for 54 yards with one touchdown. Perkins had 20 carries for 83 yards with one touchdown and Krause had 2 receptions for 62 yards with one touchdown.

The 49ers are 1-2 for the preseason. They won their week 1 game 28 - 14 over the Bears. 49ers quarterback Alex Smith is ready to be their leader. He passed for 137 yards going 16/21 with no interceptions. Antonio Bryant had five receptions for 54 yards. They lost their week 2 game 23 - 7 to the Raiders. They lost last week 17 - 7 to the Cowboys. The 49ers had only 78 yards against Dallas' starting defense. Alex Smith then threw a 15 yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Vernon Davis against the second-string defense in the third quarter. The 49ers beat the Chargers 23 - 14. Fourth round pick rookie Michael Robinson got a chance to play for a resting Frank Gore ran for two touchdowns. On 12 carries he ran for 59 yards. Quarterback Shaun Hill went 8 of 14 for 86 yards with one interception. Wide receiver Taylor Jacobs had 5 receptions for 66 yards.

The Chargers put in both of their rookie back-up quarterbacks. Charlie Whitehurst went 5 of 9 for 52 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Brett Elliott went 5 of 10 for 46 yards with two interceptions. All-Pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson sat to avoid injuries, along with tight end Antonio Gates and receiver Keenan McCardell.
