Both teams quickly removed their key players out of harm's way. Once the starters left the game, the Rams dominated more than the score indicated. They out-gained the Colts 404-249 and out-rushed them 202-38. They lost 27 - 20 to the Houston Texans in week 2. Last week the Chiefs beat them 16 - 12. Frerotte led the Rams 11 of 18 for 135 yards with one touchdown. Fisher had 13 carries for 36 yards and Collins had one reception for 54 yards with one touchdown.

The Miami Dolphins are also 1-2 for the preseason. The Dolphins lost their preseason opener 31 - 26 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They won their second game 13 -10 over the Tampa Bay buccaneers. Daunte Culpepper completed 7 of 9 passes for 86 yards. Running back Ronnie Brown had 7 carries for 32 yards. Sammy Morris had 5 carries for 22 yards with one touchdown. Tight end Jason Radar had 3 receptions for 37 yards. Despite losing last week, Daunte Culpepper looked sharp in the first half proving he can play after his devastating injury. He went 14 of 19 for 130 yards but could not get in the end zone. Miami even out-gained them 323 total yards to 145.
The Miami Dolphins beat the Rams 29 - 9 finishing the preseason 2-2. St. Louis ends 1-3. This was the final night for the back-ups to give it their all. Quarterback Marcus Vick did it all; caught punts, grabbed a touchdown pass and played a little quarterback. Third-stringer Cleo Lemon completed 21/28 for 271 yards including the 5-yard touchdown pass to Vick. Olindo Mare managed to make all five of his field goal attempts. Daunte Culpepper's back-up Joey Harrington was 5/8 for 46 yards. Deke Cooper had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Fitzpatrick was 7/14 for 94 yards in the first half for the Rams. Jeff Wilkins made all three of his field goal attempts. Running back Tony Fisher had 9 carries for 33 yards and 2 receptions for 31 yards.
