Super Bowl XLV Predictions Pittsburgh Steelers vs Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers Packers Quarterback

2011 Super Bowl Predictions - Bet Steelers vs Packers - Sunday, February 6th, 6:00pm EST FOX

The Super Bowl predictions on the 2010-2011 Pro football betting season are out on the Green Bay Packers vs the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night football match-up. On Sunday, February 6th the Green Bay Packers head to Cowboys Stadium as a 2 1/2 point favorite to battle the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Green Bay Packers offense vs the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is an amazing matchup. The Packers are 8th in yards and 10th in points, while the Steelers are 2nd in yards allowed and 1st in points allowed. The Packers were not good in the run game during the season, 24th in rushing, but in the playoffs they have been running the ball well enough to take the pressure off of the passing game. It will be interesting to see if they can run against the number 1 rushing defense. The Packers should be able to throw the ball against this 12th ranked passing defense, with their leading receiver Greg Jennings, however they give up a lot of sacks. This goes well for this defense that can get to the quarterback better than anybody in the league. It will be up to quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make plays with his legs and extend the plays, which he is very good at. The Steelers also are one of the best in creating turnovers with safety Troy Polamalu. If the Steelers allow Aaron Rodgers to scramble, they can be in trouble. This is a great matchup, but I will give the 2011 Super Bowl predictions advantage to the Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense vs the Green Bay Packers defense is a good matchup. The Steelers are 14th in yards and 12th in points, while the Packers are 5th in yards allowed and 2nd in points allowed. The Steelers do have a pretty good running game with Rashard Mendenhall. Expect him to get the ball a lot because the Packers are only 18th in rushing defense. The Steelers might have a rough time throwing the ball against this 5th ranked passing defense. The Packers are 2nd in the league in creating turnovers which includes defensive backs Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams. The other issue with the passing game is that the Steelers are not that good in protecting the quarterback; which isn't good because the Packers are one of the best teams in getting pressure on the quarterback. They have a dynamic pass rusher in Clay Mathews who is one of the best in getting pressure on the quarterback. If the Packers allow quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to scramble, they can be in trouble. But I will say that the 2011 NFL predictions advantage goes to the Packers.

The special teams favor the Steelers. The Packers are 26th in kickoff return average and 22nd in punt return average, while the Steelers are 8th in kickoff return average and 21st in punt return average. The Packers are 13th in kickoff return average allowed and 24th in punt return average allowed, while the Steelers are 9th in kickoff return average allowed and 8th in punt return average allowed. The Steelers are better in every matchup. Expect the Steelers to win the battle of field position. The 2011 Super Bowl predictions advantage goes to the Steelers.

This is a fantastic coaching matchup. Packers head coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Dom Capers has the offensive and defensive schemes to counterattack anything that their opponents will show them. They also have Aaron Rodgers who controls the Packers offense. The Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau has one of the greatest defensive minds in the league. The Steelers defensive players are good, but then take these 2 great minds and this defense is great. On offense, usually Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger takes control of it. There really is no favorite in this matchup. Both teams have great defensive schemes and a great quarterback that controls the offense. The only way to look at this matchup is the experience. This will be the Steelers 3rd time in the Super Bowl with Ben Roethlisberger as their quarterback, whereas the Packers are getting to their 1st Super Bowl appearance in 13 years. Because of this, I am giving the advantage to the Steelers coaching staff.

My 2011 Super Bowl predictions on the Green Bay Packers vs Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday Night Football game is out. What an awesome matchup this is. Two great storied franchises with a lot of championships under their belts. We have two great defenses, two of the best quarterbacks in the league, and two great coaching staffs. This can be one of the best Super Bowls within the past decade, and maybe ever, and we had some great games recently. The Steelers will be running the ball a lot in this game. We saw last game how dominate the Steelers were running the ball against the New York Jets who are very good against the run. Now the Steelers are going up against the 18th ranked rushing defense. They should be able to run the ball extremely well. This should set up the play action pass to which the Steelers have a good deep threat receiver in Mike Wallace along with some other good receivers. In the passing game, the Packers should be able to get to Ben Roethlisberger. The question will be what happens when they get there. If they make sure he doesn't get out of the pocket and can tackle him without him throwing, they will be in good shape. If Ben Roethlisberger can scramble out of the pocket and can create plays, the Packers will be in trouble on defense. On the other side of the ball, the Packers might have a tough time running the ball; however they ran the ball well against a good Chicago Bears rushing defense, and throughout the playoffs. It will be interesting if they can run the ball against the number 1 rushing defense in the league. If they can run the ball, there's no question that the Packers will win this game. I do believe however that in order to run the ball, they need to throw the ball extremely well. A great quarterback to do that with is Aaron Rodgers. The issue with the Packers is protection. The Steelers are one of the best teams in getting pressure on the quarterback. Just like Ben Roethlisberger, they will be able to get to Aaron Rodgers, but the question is what happens when they get there. If Aaron Rodgers can escape out of the pocket, the Steelers will be in trouble. We did see in these playoffs that the Packers were able to give Aaron Rodgers some time, so this will be a good test to see if they can give him at least a little time to throw the ball. These two teams met last season and it was a shootout with the Steelers winning 37-36. There were a couple of differences in this game. There was no Troy Polamalu, and the Packers defense wasn't that good last season, and now they are very much improved. Wow, this is a great matchup. I could see the defenses for both teams taking control in the 1st three quarters, and then the offenses will go on a scoring spree in the 4th quarter. I believe that whoever has the ball last will win this game. I think that team will be the Pittsburgh Steelers. They will win it on a last second field goal. The Steelers win this game in what I believe will be one of the best games we have seen in the past 10 years, 30-28.
