NCAAB March Madness Roundup - East Bracket Provides Some ValueBy D.S WilliamsonThe East Bracket provides serious value for all of us BetUS college basketball bettors looking to get some money on one of these teams before the Sweet 16 games begin. North Carolina is a serious contender to win it all, but the first week of the NCAA Tournament showed us exactly how deep this field of 65 really is. All of the top seeds in the East made it into the Sweet 16. That makes for a very competitive bracket. Below is a run down of each team's chances, with their BetUS March Madness odds at winning the East, cutting down those nets, and making it to the Final Four. The Tar Heels are strong in every position. They became one of my top picks as soon as I saw Ty Lawson return from injury. Whether you like Tyler Hansborough or not, you have to respect his toughness. This team also has the coach and that absolutely cannot be discounted in this situation. The Tar Heels are a solid, solid wager, at almost any odds, to win the East. Louisville Cardinals - BetUS odds 15 to 4 - - Louisville has to be the bet. First, you're getting above even money on them. Second, they have been unstoppable in their first two games in this tournament. Third, their coach is Rick Pitino. Now that Pitino has this team playing the way they should have been playing all season, I don't see any reason for them not to get past Tennessee and then to take down the Tar Heels this weekend. I really like this team and will have serious money on them to make it to the Final Four. Tennessee Volunteers - BetUS odds 4 to 1 - - Bruce Pearl is my man and I am partial to any basketball team from the underrated SEC Conference, but seriously - - this team shouldn't get past Louisville for the simple fact that the Cardinals will beat the Volunteers press with ease and the Volunteers have no point-guard in which to get through that Louisville half-court defense. Louisville cut their mustard in the Big East. That means they had to play some very difficult games. Tennessee just doesn't have the guard play to get past Louisville. Washington State Cougars - BetUS odds 10 to 1 - - The Cougars just aren't good enough to get past the Tar Heels. Even if they do that, and it would be a miracle, they have to deal with either Louisville or Tennessee. The Cougars have been overrated all year in my mind. That makes them a difficult wager in a four team race at 10 to 1. I love the odds, but I don't like the team. --- by BetUS at 1800-sports.com on March 27, 2008
