The Volunteers managed a come-from-ahead loss to ordinary UCLA in the season opener, despite numerous giveaways by Bruin QB Kevin Craft. They fell flat in dropping a 30-6 decision to Florida, in what should have been an emotional upper for them. And last week there was simply no excuse for the bland, 225-yard effort on offense against the Northern Illinois Huskies, a MAC entry. After that narrow 13-9 escape, Tennessee has now scored just 31 points in its last three ballgames. All of this makes for an advantageous scheduling situation for Georgia, which may have been an overrated bunch at the start of the year but nonetheless has Top 10 ability. The Bulldogs are unquestionably looking to make amends for their 41-30 loss to Alabama a couple of weeks ago, in which they were well behind, then fought back gamely and were out-gained by only ten yards at the finish. Coach Mark Richt made some positives out of the second half rally, which no doubt carried into the bye week and beyond. The injury concern surrounds Knowshon Moreno (489 yards, 10 TD's), who suffered an elbow injury but is going to be ready to go. Moreno ran for only 34 yards against 'Bama, so redemption is on his mind. Then look at the quarterbacks. Matthew Stafford may not be better than advertised, but he has thrown only one interception thus far (to go with 7 TD's). Meanwhile, Tennessee QB Jonathan Crompton has had quite a time trying to fill Erik Ainge's shoes, with a 2-4 ratio of touchdown to interceptions. And that is not good news, especially since coach Phil Fullmer has not gotten what he wanted to out of RB Arian Foster (338 yards). Georgia has lost painfully the last two years in this rivalry.
